Mission Statement

North Porch Women & Infants' Centers provide emergency seven-day supplies of formula, diapers, baby food, clothing, bed linens and other supplies for needy mothers and their infants currently only in select areas in northern New Jersey. The name reflects the custom of the ancient church to regard the "north porch" as a refuge and gathering place for women.

Description

North Porch now operates centers in Newark, Paterson and Dover, as well as satellite centers in Hackettstown and Wharton. North Porch provides assistance only through referrals. These come from a number of social agencies with which North Porch has cooperative agreements and from some area churches. North Porch serves more than 1,000 mothers and their babies each year through the three centers.

The centers provide a comfortable place for women seeking assistance to bring their children.
