And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Community Renewal and Development, Inc. (CRD) was initially formed in 2004 to pursue the implementation of resident/stakeholder lead 5th Ward Master Plan.
The holistic nature of the Master Plan has lead CRD to develop mixed income housing, abate nuisance properties, host annual employment/education forums, provide home repair assistance for low/moderate income homeowners, sponsor annual informational symposiums for the elderly, sponsor annual holiday programming which provide new gifts, clothing and food for over five hundred families and promote an annual Community Development Carnival/Back to School event which provides free school supplies, health services, access to key service providers, entertainment and food for over 4,000 residents. CRD is also currently leading efforts to increase community participation in neighborhood beautification initiatives and also working to establish additional community gardens in the 5th Ward. Most recently, CRD has expanded its service area which has enabled it to co-develop mixed income housing in other parts of the city of St. Louis and St. Louis County.
