Food Rescue US is a leader in reducing both hunger and food waste in America by transforming a negative, food waste, into a positive, delivering fresh, healthy food to millions of people through our community of dedicated volunteer food rescuers. Food rescuers pick-up excess food from local food donors, including grocery stores, restaurants, corporate dining facilities, and other food providers, and deliver it to local social service agencies providing for the food insecure. Rescuers use their own vehicles and select times that are convenient for them to pick-up and drop-off the excess food. The process is quick, simple, and incredibly rewarding. Using a proprietary web-based app, the non-profit engages volunteers to transfer excess fresh food from grocers, restaurants, and other sources, to social service agencies that feed people who are food insecure. Food rescuers pick up surplus food from Food Donors (grocers, restaurants, etc.) and deliver it directly to local Receiving Agencies (community kitchens, food pantries, etc.) that feed our hungry neighbors - in your own vehicle and on your own time, it typically takes less than an hour to complete this incredibly rewarding and essential mission.
