Dear All Doctors, Hygienists and Volunteers,
We're glad to hear from you! Due to our busy schedule, we could not get back to you on time and your time is important to us! Thank you for choosing Himalayan Women & Children's Foundation "DBA" Seven Summits Foundation. We are very happy for your interest, help and joining us as a team to work around the world. In 1012 due to other activities through the foundation, our dental volunteering program has been postponed to September 1st 2013 for Tapting Solu Khumbu, Eastern Himalayas in Nepal. If you are interested, please contact us and fill out your application ASAP for this trip, limited seats available and we appreciated your early commitment.
Descriptions about our travel destination: Solu Khumbu is the district office 34 villages of Eastern Himalayas. It's home of famous "Sherpa" people, oldest Buddhist monasteries, highest point in the world and famous Gurkha British army. Long time ago, Sherpa people are known as "Sherwa", in the language 'Sher" means East "Wa" means People ( people of the east). In Solu Khumbu, out of the 34 villages, only 9 villages are developed because of tourism and the remaining 25 villages are under developed. The annual income of people in these villages is approximately $175 to $300 USD. Due to the lack of education, people believes in shamans & monks rather than doctors. Every year many women & children die because of their superstitious believes and also in order to reach the closest hospital, it would take 2-3 days by feet. There is no transportation in these villages, if you are sick, someone has to carry you on their back and walk 2-3 days before reaching the Phaplu Hospital.
Our volunteer will serve three under developed villages name of Gohrakani with a population of 1364 people, living in 281 individual households, Tapting with a population of 2016 people, living in 339 individual households & Kerung with a population of 3381 people, living in 622 individual households.
