Mission Statement

The Global Autism Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on spreading autism awareness, information on treatment options, and diagnostic criteria to individuals and allies who are connected to autism. Our group not only connects with local communities, but also with international organizations teaching others how to understand this disease through education, outreach, acceptance, and compassion.

—The Global Autism Project travels to our service sites abroad several times per year and offers many opportunities for professionals and volunteers to travel with us. We are committed to implementing sustainable, long-term systemic change and for that reason, all of our travel programs include extensive pre-departure support and communication with our partners internationally.

Description

—To address the lack of resources and extremely limited understanding of autism that plagues many under-served populations, we partner with autism centers established by local individuals. Through hosting different recreational and training events for autistic individuals and their friends and family, we are able to promote sustainable and effective support to autism and raise awareness about this disease. —Our community empowerment model supports systemic change by providing family and community education through workshops and hands-on training.
