Join I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) and the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup! Volunteers will divert litter from San Diego's watersheds and prevent it from traveling to the Pacific Ocean. Volunteers will meet staff at a check-in-table, join ILACSD for a talk about watersheds and trash disposal, then grab supplies needed to pick up litter. Volunteers will then collect litter and take it back to ILACSD staff to sort through and dispose of properly. After the cleanup, volunteers can request community service hours. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Signing Up: In addition to signing up with HandsOn San Diego, please sign up on ILACSD's Community Hub. Attire: Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat. Bring: They supply all clean up supplies, just be sure to bring a water bottle or two! Physical Requirements: Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. Waiver: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. If possible, print the waiver, sign, and bring it to this cleanup. They will also have waivers to sign on-site. Weather: This event takes place rain or shine! If it is raining, bringing rain boots, a raincoat, and a towel to dry off afterwards is recommended. I Love A Clean San Diego is looking for amazing volunteers to support their field prep and office work. Office tasks include glove pairing and folding, bucket washing, supply organizing, packing, paper shredding, and more! Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes Signing Up: In addition to signing up with HandsOn San Diego, please sign up on ILACSD's Community Hub. Attire: Please be prepared to get wet, and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. This opportunity takes place both indoors and outdoors. ILACSD's Corporate CleanBuilding program offers businesses of all sizes a unique, turnkey opportunity to engage in team-building while giving back to the community. Through this program, your team will participate in a customizable, impact-driven cleanup activity at a local outdoor space in San Diego County, such as a nearby beach, park, canyon, or even around your own business property. Please note: Although this opportunity is listed as "virtual" for flexibility, all cleanups are in-person events conducted at various outdoor locations across San Diego County. ILACSD will host the entire event, providing everything needed to make it a seamless experience, from supplies to coordination. In addition to the cleanup, the program offers customizable education options and games. ILACSD offers Lunch and Learns to enhance education about a specific sustainability topic in conjunction with your cleanup event! Participating in a Corporate CleanBuilding event is a fantastic opportunity to serve both the community and the environment. By engaging in a cleanup, your team will contribute to preserving and beautifying local outdoor spaces, while also strengthening connections and improving collaboration within the workplace.
