Description

The purpose of the Monroe County Opportunity Program is to provide much-needed services and referral sources for eligible residents of Monroe County, to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities, and empower low-income families and individuals to become fully self-sufficient. MCOP began in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act as a Community Action Agency. The Monroe County Opportunity Program is financially supported by federal, state, and local funding, in addition to private donations. It is due to such ongoing support that MCOP has been able to serve all of Monroe County since 1965.
