Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) shall promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management.

Description

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) was created in 1993 by progressive businesses and environmental groups to address the issues of forest destruction and deforestation. As an independent nonprofit organization, FSC sets standards by which forests are audited and certified. A voluntary program, FSC uses the power of the marketplace to promote responsible forest management, creating and eco-label that helps consumers identify prodcuts from sustainable managed forests.
