Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity that engages your heart mind and spirit in caring for others in your own community? Join the Willamette Vital Health Volunteer Team! We are looking for Veteran to Veteran Volunteers - If you have served in the military or have a passion to support those that have we need you! Our new program supports our Veteran patients by visiting them, supporting them and helping us serve them. We will honor the patients with a military service as well. Come join our caring family. We serve our patients in Marion and Polk Counties as well as Yamhill, Clackamas and Linn - So we are looking for volunteers in all areas!! VOLUNTEER FOR THE ONLY NON PROFIT HOSPICE IN THE GREATER SALEM AREA!! HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE WITH EXTRAORDINARY LOVE!! Our mission at Willamette Vital Health is to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill persons and their families, to provide bereavement support for the caregivers and families of our patients and members of the community, and to educate the community about the hospice philosophy and prognosis. Here are other ways you can support us! PATIENT CARE You can give respite to the family/caregivers of our patients. This is usually spending 3-4 hours per week the patient while the caregiver gets a break. You can also visit patients in facilities. This is usually 1 hour per week. You can read with patient, play board games with patients, or just simply sitting with a patient holding their hands. GRIEF CARE You can assist families that have experienced a death of a loved one. You can telephone our bereaved families to give support, help co-facilitate our six week grief support groups for children and adults. You can help at our Memorials and help with our summer camp. OUTREACH/COMMUNITY SUPPORT You can help in the office with mailings, stuffing envelopes, gathering statistics, assisting with special projects, filing and data entry. You can also participate in our Outrech which is going out and educating the community on hospice. Assisting with special events and fundraising. OFFICE SUPPORT We have many opportunities helping us in the office with mailings, packet assembly, data entry, phone calls and much more YOUTH VOLUNTEERS We ask that you are at least 16 years of age to have direct patient contact and at least 12 years old to help in the office or with special projects. Community service, meet new people and much more. PET THERAPY AND LIFE REVIEW Volunteers can support our patients and family with Pet Therapy. There is additional certification required for this. We also offer Life Review. Which is helping our patients leave a life story for his/her family SPECIAL PROJECTS VOLUNTEER You can help by making quilts and pillows, knitting lap blankets, creating greeting cards and much more to support our patients and families You can choose what area of volunteering you would like to do, you choose how often and in what area. We are very flexible and will work with you on how it is you want to make a difference.

Willamette Vital Health is not-for-profit based in Salem, Oregon. We support our community throughout Marion, Polk, Yamhill and Linn County. We are looking for grief care volunteers. Our volunteer support our grief programs by helping with our children's camp in the summer, making phone calls to our families after the death as a check in call, they also help with grief support groups. If this is an opportunity that sounds like a good fit, please contact us. We are very flexible with scheduling. Training is done virtually as well as some at our office in West Salem. In addition to the satisfaction of fulfilling a genuine need, volunteers experience the thrill of meeting the real people who were part of important events in American history. PET THERAPY AND LIFE REVIEW Volunteers can support our patients and family with Pet Therapy. There is additional certification required for this. We also offer Life Review, which is helping our patients leave a life story for their families. PET PEACE OF MIND VOLUNTEER You can help hospice families care for their pets by taking the dog for a walk, or transporting the cat to the vet. You can offer a temporary home for a patient’s beloved pet, or help raise funds at our annual Walk-n-Wag event in the fall. SPECIAL PROJECTS VOLUNTEER You can help by making quilts and pillows, knitting lap blankets, creating greeting cards and much more to support our patients and families You can choose what area of volunteering you would like to do, you choose how often and in what area. We are very flexible and will work with you on how it is you want to make a difference. During this COVID time we are taking extra precautions and ask all of our staff and volunteers to follow strict guidelines to keep everyone safe. You will be asked to wear PPE (Protective equipment when seeing patients) as well as masks when you are in the office with others.
