Description

The Gifted, Intelligent, Resilient, Ladies (GIRL) Movement aka The GIRL Movement is a community based nonprofit organization that provides mentoring programs, tutoring, life skills workshops and educational empowerment forums for GIRLS.

Sociologists have noted that the presence of positive influences in a child’s environment is even more crucial than genes in determining whether a child will struggle or thrive. Yet, across the United States, nearly 1 in 3 youth grow up without ever having a role model. At-risk youth are even less likely to have access to mentors and more likely to want one than their peers. The GIRL Movement seeks to close this gap by providing structured programs for girls and aspires to reach youth in communities nationwide.

This is a great organization. I loved working with the young ladies. The founder, Tomika is wonderful. She has a great spirit and passion for working with the girls and teaching them about STEM. I loved that she allowed me to really get involved and help out with the projects. I think I had more fun than the girls did.
