Description

Hospice volunteers needed from Newton to Gloucester (North Shore) to provide companship and emotional support to patients and families according to the patient's plan of care. Hospice patients are individuals with terminal life-limiting illnesses with a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Volunteer support may be in the form of conversation, handholding, simple presence at the bedside, recreational activities, and music/pet therapy. Volunteers have the opportunity to develop on-going relationships with patients and families throughout their illness, or may be involved in short term "vigil" relationships.
