Mission Statement

The mission of Renville County Back-the-Pack Programis to provide relief and close the missing meal gaps between available food assistance programs and the unmet needs of low-income residents of the BOLD/RCW School Districts. By building networks and opening communications, we can utilize and maximize our local food resources to make up for missing meals, in turn improving the health and self reliance of our residents. We advocate for sustainable solutions to hunger, demonstrate the public value of an end to hunger, and strive to eliminate the stigma and apathy connected to hunger. To accomplish this, Renville County Back-the-Pack Program is developing strategies that bring together individuals and organizations to:

  • Leverage Community resources to support available food assistance programs
  • Increase participation in food assistance programs
  • Increase food rescue and distribution programs
  • Advocate for public policy to end hunger
  • Expand community awareness of hunger

Description

The Renville County Back-the-Pack Program will provide four meals to Pre/Head Start-6 th grade students enrolled in BOLD/Rcw Public Schools. The meals will include two breakfast, two lunches, and two snacks for the weekends. The meals will be packed and delivered to the schools before the weekend. The school will be a distribution point to the children. The area the program will include is BOLD/RCW Public Schools which includes the towns of Bird Island, Lake Lillian, Sacred Heart, Danube the cities of Olivia and Renville. The students must be enrolled in the district to be eligible for the program.
