Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.

Description

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat does this by inviting people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Partner families to receive a Habitat home are chosen based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the no-interest loan. Every affiliate follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses. Habitat for Humanity's work is accomplished at the community level by affiliates -- independent, locally run, nonprofit organizations. Junction City/Harrisburg/Monroe Habitat for Humanity affiliate serves people who live or work in the Junction City, Harrisburg and Monroe school districts.
