Mission Statement

The mission of Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF), a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1971, is to develop financial and educational resources for the inner-city schools of the Archdiocese of New York in order to help bridge the gap between tuition charged and the actual cost of educating each student

Description

The cornerstone of the support by the Archdiocese of New York for inner-city education is Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF). Founded by Terence Cardinal Cooke in 1971 to address the dire financial problems facing inner-city schools, ICSF provides financial support to both the students and the inner-city schools of the Archdiocese of New York, that are located in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. Understanding the importance of addressing the educational needs of economically disadvantaged children, Cardinal Cooke brought together a group of determined and dedicated business and civic leaders to help him raise funds to maintain the educational excellence of the Archdiocese of New York inner-city schools.
