Mission Statement

A Major Cultural Event in Atlanta is born! Our mission is to host a major festival in the metropolitan Atlanta area, representing exceptional Folk, Outsider, Visionary, and Self-Taught artists. We pledge to provide local and out-of-state collectors, art galleries, and folk art enthusiasts with an annual event that will be rewarding and above all, FUN!. WhoFest was founded in 2004 as a grassroots effort "for the artists, by the artists." Immediate support came from over 90 artists, including Smithsonian Folk Art Collection artists Mr. Imagination and Lorenzo Scott, and from our friends at the Spruill Gallery. WhoFest 2004 welcomed thousands of enthusiasts including representatives from the Baltimore Visionary Art Museum and the Mennello Museum of American Folk Art in Orlando, Florida. Gallery owners and collectors attended from across the country including California, Illinois, New York, Michigan, Texas, the Carolinas, Florida, and Tennessee. Goals for WhoFest 2005: * Increase our lineup to 100 artists concentrating on attracting today's most celebrated Folk, Outsider, and Visionary artists in the Southeast. *Bring revenue into our community and introduce this popular art movement to those in Atlanta who are not familiar with this creative and soulful work. * Double out of state attendance by collectors, galleries and museum representatives. * Attract proud sponsors, benefactors and grant monies to support our efforts. * Through additional funding, provide a festival program to educate our patrons on the participating artists and give thanks to our sponsors.

Description

WhoFest celebrates the Folk, Visionary, Outsider and Self-Taught Art community. Showcasing 100 of today's top artists from around the Southeast and beyond. This year our artist line-up includes 3 artists who have been showcased at the Smithsonian! Our annual festival will be held on the Grounds Of The Spruill Gallery in Dunwoody, May 14 & 15, 2005 ~ 10am-6pm. WhoFest is a unique opportunity for our community to meet and purchase directly from the artists. An excellent opportunity to come learn first hand about this increasingly popular art movement.
