Mission Statement

ABC No Rio is a collectively-run center for art and activism. We are known internationally as a venue for oppositional culture. ABC No Rio was founded in 1980 by artists committed to political and social engagement and we retain these values to the present.

Description

Books through Bars is an affiliated project of ABC No Rio that collects and sends books to prisoners all over the country.

Books Through Bars is an organization that sends books to prisoners. When I volunteered with them on Sunday, we sent books to maybe about 50 prisoners in the time that I was there. The people were very friendly and I feel that the organization is efficient in getting the job done.
