Mission Statement

The Oakland Landscape Committee is a community-based landscape committee in Oakland that works on developing and maintaining school and public gardens, tree planting, creek restoration, vegetation management, and helps with youth development efforts working with at-risk youth and also high school and college student service club. We help in maintaining the Firestorm Memorial Garden, the Gateway Way Garden/Emergency Preparedness Exhibit Center, the Frank Ogawa Firescape Garden, and the Broadway Garden in the Oakland hills, and also help in park maintenance at Oakland park sites such as the North Oakland Sports Field, Montclair Park, Gateway Garden, and Morcom Rose Garden. We also assist in beautification projects at multiple Oakland Unified School District school sites. We have also been helping with community tree plantings at schools and planting street trees. We have helped lead ongoing creek restoration efforts in the Temescal Creek tributary that comes through the North Oakland Sports Field.

Description

Works on school and public gardens and vegetation management in Oakland. Local affiliate of California ReLeaf, the statewide grassroots tree planting network. We also have worked closely with the Keep Oakland Beautiful Advisory Board and the Oakland Unified School District School Garden Council.
