Mission Statement

The NNCASA program recruits, trains, and supervises competent volunteers dedicated to representing the needs of abused and neglected children, as well as other children in juvenile dependency proceedings. The program promotes safe, permanent homes for all children and seeks to educate the community concerning the needs of abused and neglected children, as well as other children with issues before the courts.

Description

The goal of the volunteers is to provide a fact-based report to the Judge before each hearing on the childâ s case. The volunteer reviews all records - judicial, social services, school, medical and others relevant to the investigation. The volunteer also interviews all persons closely involved in the childâ s life â parents, foster parents, teachers, counselors, attorneys, guardians ad litem, and the child â to provide an objective assessment of the childâ s situation. The volunteer provides recommendations based on the childâ s best interest to be considered by the judge in making decisions about the childâ s future. Additionally, the volunteer monitors the court orders to ensure the orders are carried out.
