Mission Statement
GFWC Woman’s Club of Port Charlotte is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
Description
Founded in 1890, the General Federation of Women's Clubs are the greatest empowerment group for women the world has ever known! An international organization, one of these clubs can almost always be found near to you.
They work in six categories: Arts/Drama; Conservation; Education; Home Life; International Outreach and Public Concerns.
As a Federation, we have worked to acquire the 5 day work week, the 8 hour work day, abolished child labor, helped established National Parks and Indian Agencies, gotten car seat belts and car seats. And much, much, more!
In 2011 the GFWC Woman’s Club of Port Charlotte donated over 2,500 volunteer hours.
Awarded $4,000 in scholarships to High Schooland Technical students.
Donated over $12,000 worth of in-kind goods. Items for food pantries, animal shelters, Treats for Troops.
Gave more than $6,300 in cash donations to local charities.
A near miracle for a mere 60 women!
