Mission Statement

We believe every child--irrespective of where he or she lives or attends school--deserves a teacher who is caring, engaging and knowledgeable. We believe quality teaching matters and is the single most important factor in student achievement and success.

Description

The PNTP Foundation is a nonprofit, community based organization that raises funds to provide intensive coaching and professional development to new teachers and new administrators in order to improve teacher retention and student achievement. The PNTP's overall mission is to assist and support new teachers as they enter the teaching profession and to advance their skills and knowledge in relation to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. The project focuses on improving classroom practice and on developing reflective teachers who are responsive to the diverse cultural, social and linguistic backgrounds of all students. We serve 22 school districts in San Mateo county which span the great range of socio-economic and racial diversity in the county. The teacher retention rate in the districts we serve is 90%, compared to a state average of less than 50%.
