Mentoring Ex-Offenders The community of adults which we serve often struggle with re-entry and need a mentor's guidance to get through this difficult time. Through mentoring, your expertise helps create a positive influence on someone in need. Our mentors need to be non-judgmental, empathetic, and open to diversity. You will be given training and support to aid your efforts to help them build a future. In this twelve month span, you will communicate with your mentee for six hours a month. Our results show, this time together matters. When we pair mentors with returning citizens we have shown a high success rate of ex-offenders not violating their parole, staying employed, and ultimately not going back to prison. Since 2003, Trusted Mentors has maintained an 86% average in helping people remain housed; and an 82% average in helping mentees not return to prison. Plus, there will be opportunities for you to attend engaging workshops and fundraisers where you will be able to meet other volunteers like yourself. How can you find out more? If you are interested, fill out a volunteer application at TrustedMentors.org » Volunteer Application, email us at Info@trustedmentors.org, or call us at 317-985-5041. The people we serve have gone through their share of tough times. When it matters the most, mentors often help get them through that difficult time with a eagerness to listen, with compassion, and with support. Our volunteer mentors are guided with training and the support and expertise of the Trusted Mentors Staff, giving your mentoring partnership a greater chance of success. Mentorship allows a personal portal to a life likely different than yours, exposing you to life experience and diversity quite different than your own. You also receive an opportunity for greater understanding and empathy while you give back and build up our community from the inside. Mentoring relationships build skills in active listening, engagement, managing differences in opinion, boundaries, and the necessity of self-care. It is rare that a service can provide such differing benefits to both sides, but Trusted Mentors does. In addition to the gratification that you will get by serving another person in need, there are fun events which you will be able to attend, and like-minded people with which you can network. For more information about Trusted Mentors please watch this video: https://vimeo.com/111005408. Mentors will be asked to serve for a year and be in contact with their mentee six hours a month. We divide training into two sessions; an application can be found on our website at TrustedMentors.org » Volunteer Application and we can be reached by email at info@trustedmentors.org or call us at (317)985-5041.

Choose Mentoring! Trusted Mentors helps young at-risk adults (ages 18-24) navigate into adult life through one-on-one mentoring. We mentor young adults who come to us after they have aged out of the foster care system and become homeless. We also assist young adults who are reentering the local community after incarceration. Trained mentoring has proven to help these young adults stay focused on their goals, help them stay in jobs and stay housed, and decrease the amount of parole violations. You can help by spending time with a young adult mentee that has been specifically matched to you. This brings positive change to your community and helps provide a sense of accomplishment for everyone involved. We provide you training and continuous support from our staff in your role as a mentor. Also, we have engaging fundraisers and ongoing training events where you will be able to build relationships with other Trusted Mentors. Please watch this information video https://vimeo.com/111005408 for more information about us. The Trusted Mentor Difference Trusted Mentors takes a one-on-one approach to helping those in need. It takes time, commitment, and can be extremely rewarding. People sometimes wonder what our mentees can gain from a mentor. Some common answers we hear are: Mentors help establish a network of reliable people, and Mentors help develop methods to prevent living in crisis. These past few years, mentors have helped bridge the digital divide by helping navigate services via the internet. Can you help another person do that? Then you can be a mentor! Additional perks are that you and your mentee will be invited to fun events ranging from sporting events, festivals, and various fundraisers. Additionally, you will meet other mentors like yourself at meetings for mentors, fundraisers, sporting outings, or celebrations of our mentee's recent achievements. Go to TrustedMentors.org » Volunteer Application at www.trustedmentors.org/volunteer-application/ and fill out an application. You can also easily listen to firsthand accounts about us at https://vimeo.com/111005408. Please feel free to call us (317-985-5041) with more questions - you can also schedule a time to go to your first training session. Support. Stabilize. Succeed.

Exiting the criminal justice system comes with many challenges and hurdles for an ex-offender. At Trusted Mentors, we find that when these returning citizens are paired with a mentor their chance of overcoming their obstacles is dramatically increased. A year of re-entry goes by quickly with a mentor's support. New habits will be formed, and the likelihood of a citizen reentering society returning to prison goes down significantly. When you become a mentor with us, you receive the needed training in order to be a positive energy in that person's life. Throughout the year, you get to go to our sponsored events with your mentee and meet other mentors like yourself. Examples of these events are fundraisers, sporting outings, or celebrations of our mentee's recent achievements. Go to TrustedMentors.org » Volunteer Application and fill out an application.
