Mission Statement
The Macomb Hispanic & International Service Center (MHISC) provides comprehensive human services and advocacy and empowerment programs to foster and increase self-sufficiency and independence among Hispanics and persons of other cultures in need within our communty.
Description
MHISC serves Macomb, St. Clair, Lapeer, and surrounding areas. This is accomplished through numerous empoerment initiatives and community collaboratives. MHISC was created to address the lack of culturally and linguistically effective programs for at-risk Hispanics and other cultures in need. The issue continues to be relavant as these populations grow and providers in the community cannot respond effectively to the demands for services that must be implemented through cultural and linguistic understanding. MHISC integrates families into the American society by assisting them to help their children succeed in school. Citizenship classes, English Classes, Basic and Advanced, Basic Computer and Spanish Classes are offered. MHISC is Recognized by the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and the USCIS offices to aupply Immigration Services. Job placement, translations, interpretations, letter writing and notary services avialable. A Healthy Living Pantry is in the works and we are opening a MISC Boutique Resale Store in July, 2012. We have a 4H gardening club and a program that provides therapy via horse back for special needs children.
