Founded in 1995 by a dedicated group of community leaders, parents and teachers, the Young Achievers School is a vibrant community committed to high academic achievement. Description
Kids love math and science if itâ  s taught right â  if itâ  s lively and exciting, if it makes them ask questions and investigate ideas. Mastering the principles of math and science unlocks the door to the future, offering the promise of a happier, more successful life. Many schools believe that some students have more aptitude for math and science than others. They make decisions based on cultural biases or on standardized tests that judge what children have already learned, not what they are capable of learning. At Young Achievers Science & Mathematics Pilot School, we believe that every student can learn algebra and understand the concepts of biology, can plot the course of a beam of light and come to grips with the vastness of the stars. We know each child will do that at a different pace and in a different way, and that theyâ  ll need different experiences to plot their own course. Our school is uniquely designed to provide those experiences. We have created a curriculum based on active learning thatâ  s culturally relevant and free from cultural biases and concentrates on individual studentâ  s needs. Also, through a seamless eight-hour school day, we provide our Young Achievers with a total learning environment.
