Mission Statement

OUR MISSION AND VISION Our Mission WHY WE'RE HERE Paradise Valley Hospital is a family of caring professionals committed to continuing our Seventh-day Adventist heritage of quality services. We work to enhance our patients' total well being, and to improve the health of our diverse communities. Our Vision WHERE WE'RE GOING AND HOW WE'RE GETTING THERE We will be renowned for our personalized care, compassion and healing. Implications of Our Mission and VisionWe will broaden our definition of health to include economic conditions, education, crime and other social issues that impact individual and community well being, while we remain fully committed to delivering traditional health care, which focuses on illness and injury. We will continue to build on our heritage of wellness and prevention activities as we work to empower individuals and families to take responsibility to live healthier lives. We will engage a broad coalition of community leaders to help identify viable solutions for community health needs and advocate for an expanded vision of community health. Ultimately, we will measure our success by the overall health of our communities. We will partner with other hospitals and physicians to create an integrated health care delivery system that includes home care, ambulatory care, acute care, long-term care, primary care, affiliated hospital systems, and wellness centers.

Description

Since its beginning in 1904, Paradise Valley Hospital has continued its founding mission of providing health care services to the surrounding, diverse communities in San Diego County. The active Volunteer Services Department is over 48 years young. Our volunteers are involved in improving their community's health through compassionate delivery of service within the hospital departments, the outpatient center and local community. We have volunteers who have achieved 10, 20, 30, and almost 40 years of service. Volunteers receive an orientation, employee physical, and training for the hospital environment and for their position. We also provide volunteers with nourishing meals after their shifts. We have junior volunteers (14 to 17 yr olds) and senior volunteers (18 + yrs) who come from a variety of backgrounds. Some of our volunteers are mentally and physically challenged individuals who serve with dignity in the hospital. Our volunteers are representative of the diverse individuals and communities we serve in San Diego County. Our volunteers are cherished and a blessing.
