The Wellness Plan Medical Centers were founded more than 40 years ago specifically to provide access to care for medically underserved populations as well as employer groups. Today, TWPMC, operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center, continues to carry out the mission of delivering quality primary care and human services to uninsured and underinsured residents in the Metropolitan Detroit area regardless of ability to pay.
TWPMC is among the largest and most experienced Primary Care Medical Group serving patients who have traditionally faced barriers to quality health care. Our model creates a partnership between the physicians and patients in the management of their health care. Our three Medical Centers offer a full array of preventative and primary medical care services and these services span the entirety of the patient’s life cycle to include prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric care. A typical patient visits their physician two times during the course of the year; TWPMC experiences more than 42,000 patient encounters each year.
In addition to our three Medical Centers, we also own and operate on-site pharmacies offering discounted drug pricing through 340B and other pharmaceutical discount programs. An average patient receives six prescriptions per year, and our pharmacies distribute approximately 125,000 prescriptions annually.
