Mission Statement

Career Collaborative ends working-class poverty by helping adults get and succeed at life-changing jobs, making Massachusetts and its families stronger.

Description

Job Search
We offer a highly interactive course that teaches basic job-search skills and helps clients build relationships with other students and staff members. We provide a staffed resource room where clients use the internet for job search and online job applications.

Job Club
We provide individual and group support for clients in job search. Participants discuss job-search activities and share leads with each other. With the help of staff members, interns, and volunteers, clients search for jobs in the resource room.

Mentoring
We mentor clients for at least two years after their initial job placement to coach them through problems at work and home and to help them prepare for raises and promotions.

Supportive Services
We also provide clients with an unusually broad range of supportive services so that they can succeed at their jobs. For example, we help clients get interview clothes, training in budgeting and computer skills, and emergency financial assistance for food and housing.

Career Collaborative's Accomplishments During 2012
Career Collaborative provided outstanding services for our mentees who are thriving. At the end of the year, 62% of our mentees completed two years of continuous employment.

We served 352 low-income adults. We mentored more than 200 clients and taught 152 adults job-search skills.
