Mission Statement
Jump$tart Fund strives to help refugee clients achieve self-sufficiency through business-ownership.
Description
Jump$tart Fund offers loans and business technical assistance to microenterprises owned by refugees and asylees living in the Puget Sound area. Many of JumpStart's clients do not have access to traditional sources of business capital due to language and cultural barriers, lack of business experience, insufficient collateral or other factors. JumpStart was formed in 2003 with funding from the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and is managed by the Refugee Resettlement Office. JumpStart interns and volunteers generally work during normal business hours. However, scheduling is flexible and arrangements can be made to accommodate work from home as well as weekend or evening hours. The work environment is casual and lively.
