North Hills Community Outreach is a non-profit organization addressing the needs of people in crisis, hardship and poverty in northern Allegheny County.


North Hills Community Outreach

is an organization of

People Helping People

founded in 1987.

Our programs have

grown in response to

community need, and our

primary service area now

encompasses all of northern

Allegheny County.

We have service sites in

Hampton, Millvale, Bellevue,

O’Hara and Pine.

Addressing Basic Needs

NHCO provides free services

to those who qualify under

income and residency


Services include:

Food Pantries in Hampton,

Bellevue, and Millvale.

Older adults who qualify

can receive additional

food through Senior


In Service of Seniors

volunteer caregiving to help seniors remain

safe and independent

in their own homes for as long as possible by

providing transportation

to the doctor, helping with

grocery shopping, making

friendly visits, etc.;

Free Rides for Seniors

shuttle operates weekdays

along Freeport Road

between Blawnox and


Ask the Attorney

volunteers provide free

legal consultations on

noncriminal matters;

Community Auto

accepts donated vehicles,

has them repaired and sells them at well below fair market value to low income workers;

Utility Assistance

prevents shut-offs, restores

service and helps with

budgeting ($1 Energy,

LIHEAP and CAP program

assistance available);

Emergency Financial Assistance for housing,

transportation and prescriptions;

Seasonal Sharing Projects

such as Back to School supplies, winter coats,

Thanksgiving dinners and more;

Disaster Relief for victims of fire, flood, etc.;

Long-term Family Development program to help

individuals and families reach self-sufficiency;

Employment Assistance includes résumé

preparation and evaluation, mock interviews, job

postings, bus passes, computer literacy training

and clothing vouchers;

College Scholarships for nontraditional students.

Referrals to Others for additional help as needed.
