Mission Statement

BKM is an all volunteer non-profit multi-denominational Christian organization dedicated to supplementing the nutritional needs of those in Pearl River County who meet the USDA guidelines for income and family size. We do this by networking with individuals, local churches and merchants, government agencies, schools and civic groups. We also provide trained mentors for students in the local school district.

Description

BKM is governed by a volunteer executive board
that meets monthly. We also have honorary board members. We are open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week from 9 am - Noon and 1 pm - 3 pm and Friday from 9 am - Noon. We are staffed by volunteers from the community, including some of our clients. Clients are screened by using a Mississippi TEFAP application form. Clients are re-certified every three months and can receive food every 31 days. BKM was founded in August 2000 and became a fully operational 501(c)(3) publicly supported organization by October 2001.
Currently we serve more than 335 households each month, consisting of an average of 840 people. We distribute more than 25,300# of food each month and give clients other items as they are available, such as diapers and other health and beauty items.
