Shaker Family Center

Description

The Shaker Family Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers educational, social, and recreational programs for families with young children of all abilities. In addition, Shaker Family Center houses three distinguished early childhood agencies. These agencies, a mix of private and public nonprofit organizations, include Carol Nursery School, Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, Early Childhood Enrichment Center. Over 500 families in Shaker Heights, Ohio and surrounding communities are served by the Center's programs and its partner agencies.

Ongoing fundraising events support Shaker Family Center's educational programs and activities for families with young children. These programs include: Patricia S. Mearns Family Playroom (a drop in center for children accompanied by adult ages birth to 5), Learning English as a Family (an ESL Program), Play and Learn Station (literacy based center birth to 5), Open Gym (during winter months), Kindergarten Readiness, Parenting Classes.
