RSVP Disaster Preparedness and Recovery

RSVP volunteers play a role in disaster preparedness in our five county area years through service in VOADS, the Red Cross, 211 disaster hotlines, Salvation Armies, and in their personal houses of worship. Volunteers also asist in recovery through VOADS and Red Cross. In addition, volunteers prepare meals, collect blankets, toiletries, toys, ice and canned goods in support of disaster victims.

Meals on Wheels in Montgomery

Would you like to make a huge difference in the life of a senior citizen? Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers. This is a wonderful program that delivers a hot, noon lunch to seniors around the community. For many Meals on Wheels clients this is the only hot meal they receive all day. Most routes serve 10 seniors, and can be delivered in one hour. Volunteers can deliver meals as many times as they like in a month. Come join this fabulous group of volunteers that is making a huge difference with seniors.

Autauga County Water Festival

Autauga County brings together 15 community partners to host a Water Festival each year for area 4th graders. The children participate in experiments that teach them about the life cycle of water, water convervation and not polluting. Volunteers are needed to assemble information packets and mail them to teachers, to serve as class presenters or aides, as tour guides, to prepare meals or to clean up classrooms. For volunteers to participate through RSVP they must be 55 or older.

Supreme Court Docents

The Supreme Court Library of Alabama is looking for volunteer docents to give tours to groups ranging in age from 4 th graders to adults. Volunteers are asked to do serve one 3-hour shift per week, but this is flexible unless a tour or tours are scheduled. You should be physically fit to walk stairs (though we can make exceptions).Two perks offered (1) FREE underground parking on the days you have tours or are receiving training and (2) an appreciation day, where you are treated like royalty.
