Mission Statement

Our mission is to help people and their pets live better lives together. Our visionis that our programs and services will help transform our community to improve the quality of life for companion animals and greatly reduce the number of abandoned and homeless animals impounded and killed at our municipal shelter.

We are located in Las Cruces, NM, but our services are offered to all those in Dona Ana County. Our goals and objectives are as follows:

    • Positive humane outreach, education, & No Kill advocacy
    • Assistance for pets and their guardians in times of need
    • Programs that target the most urgent animal-welfare challenges in our community
    • Services & support that make it easier for pet guardians to do the right thing

Description

APA's Dona Ana Pets Alive! campaign is a growing, community-wide grassroots movement to end the needless killing of the approximately 8500 healthy & treatable animals being killed at the Las Cruces municipal shelter every year. We rescued our first 7 dogs and 3 cats from the shelter the week of May 7th. Our first two successful adoptions of some of these dogs are shown in the pictures above from offsite adoptions held at the Tractor Supply Co. and PETCO.

34 diverse communities, with more added each year across the United States, are now saving 90-97% of their sheltered pets. Dona Ana County can do the same.

To JOIN US, call 575-644-0505 or e-mail at actionprogramsforanimals@yahoo.com. From foster homes for dogs and cats, adoption event volunteers, help from trainers/behaviorists, PR and graphic art skills and donations-- it takes a community effort to save our homeless animals' lives.

And we need YOUR help!
