Mission Statement

Our Mission is to learn through research the development of housing that sustains the environment and meets exonomic needs. We have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity in hopes of helping low-wage workers, retirees and their families to lower their energy consumption as well as their energy costs by installing weather proofing retrofits in their homes.

Description

The Laboratory for Innovative Housing is located on the UNC Charlotte campus. With a grant from the Department of Energy we are able to put our project, SWIFT, into action. SWIFT, which stands for Streamlined Weatherization Improvements For Tomorrow, will allow us to learn through research weatherization improvements and give back to our community!

This organization doesn't leave any question unanswered. It's an amazing learning experience with a wide range of tasks, from the physically demanding to just painting a wall. The coordinators make it so easy to participate within minutes of arriving. Highly recommended for groups or couples.
