TOWN inspires both public and private action to stop the spread of urban decay, to restore healthy community standards, and to ensure that city government and local media act in the interests of the citizens.

Description

The Taskforce On Waukegan Neighborhoods, or TOWN, began as a grass roots citizens' movement in 1993. TOWN has brought together more than 500 residents, property owners and business owners in the City of Waukegan, Illinois. Incorporated as a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation in 1997, TOWN has a proven track record of eradicating blight, slums, crack houses and other public nuisances from Waukegan neighborhoods.
