Mission Statement

As the local Chapter of Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historical Sites, the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park support our Park in many ways.

We have donated plants and seeds to return only native plants to the Park. We have funded recent repairs to the campground restrooms, and donated the fanciest outhouse you have ever seen to the Park at the Primitive campsite.

Our goal is to allow our Park Manager to make James H. "Sloppy" Floyd State Park the most beautiful and self-sufficient park in the State. That way it will always be there for us to enjoy.

Description

The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park is a group of outdoor enthusiasts with varied interests. Some cycle, some run, some seriously hike, and some just walk leisurely around the lakes. And then there are the fishermen. They are the biggest draw for the Park so we look out for their intersts as well.

Our biggest fund-raiser is the Twisted Ankle Trail Run Marathon and Half-Marathon held each May. We also sponsor movie nights by the lake, an antiqe car drive-in, and a Bluegrass Festival.
