Mission Statement

Mercy Hospital Jefferson Hospice provides comfort, support and compassionate care to people with life-limiting illnesses and to their families in a manner that respects the dignity of the individual and fosters community acceptance that dying is an integral part of living. Hospice is guided by the values of mercy, human dignity, justice and service.

When choosing Hospice care, an individual and his or her family make a collective decision to focus on comfort rather than cure. In addition, Hospice provides support for the family through grief support, counseling, and education following the death of their loved one.

The Hospice team at Mercy Hospital Jefferson works in partnership with the patient, his or her family, physician and the Hospice Medical Director.

Sometimes family members express concern about the alternatives available if a Hospice patient requires hospital care. With the Hospice program at Mercy Hospital Jefferson, if a patient's physician recommends hospitalization for a brief period of acute care related to the hospice diagnosis, patients may be admitted to Jefferson Regional and members of the Hospice team will continue to support the patient and family.

Whether you like to help in the administrative area or serve others at their bedside an hour or more a week, this is great opportunity to shine a light in the life of another person. If you can listen to a story, you are qualified. If you can tell a story, you are qualified. Try it, you will like it.
