Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Yoga Gives Back's mission is to mobilize the global yoga community to alleviate poverty in India through education and micro credit programs for women and children. Six billion dollars is generated on Yoga in the US alone each year. if a fraction of this can be redirected to help the poor in India, we can make a difference. For the cost of one yoga class, you can change a life.
In 2007, inspired by Nobel Peace Prize Recipient Dr. Muhammad Yunus' revolutionary micro financing breakthrough, Yoga Gives Back began supporting micro credit programs. Through the Grameen Foundation, we fund programs who lend small loans to women who are otherwise excluded from the conventional banking and financial systems.
In 2010, exploring a way to get direct help to the poorest, YGB developed "Sister Aid"programs to fund education, vocational training on a personal basis, and micro credit programs. YGB has selected and partnered thus far with successful Non Governmental Organizations, NISHTHA in West Bengal and Deenabandhu in Karnataka.
Yoga Gives Back is now a rapidly growing global community of volunteers, students, teachers, and advisors who work tirelessly by holding event classes, distributing information, and working hard to help change lives. As a result of very successful global event "Thank You Mother India" in September 2011, YGB now directly funds 103 mothers and children in India. We are planning an even bigger event in September 2012, as YGB's annual global day of support.
