Mission Statement

The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced, to provide or locate a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released, and to educate the public toward the importance of coexistence with all wild bird species.

Description

The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is a local, non-profit wildlife rehabilitation center that works exclusively with native and migratory birds. Each year we take in over 1,000 injured/misplaced birds in our mission to rehabilitate and release them back in to the wild. We also double as a wildlife sanctuary and feature a wide variety of birds on display to the public including raptors, songbirds, and shore/sea birds. All of our sanctuary residents are non-releasable due to the injuries that were sustained in the wild, but can be utilized to educate the public about the importance of nature conservation. The Sanctuary is free and open to the public every day fo the week from sunrise to sunset.
