Mission Statement

Providing Counseling, Education, Advocacy of Human Rights for the Native American and LGBT-Q/Two Spirit population.

Engage Life provides counseling, education, advocacy of human rights for the Native American and LGBT-Q/Two Spirit population.

We prepare specialized curriculum to present in the public and private schools as well as corporations and Tribal Nations to educate and advocate for human rights.

Engage Life also provides counseling services to those populations to support their journey in life.

Native American Population Unresolved grief permeates the souls of our Native people and many times using mainstream counseling services fall short of providing answers. It is so very important that the connection with traditional Tribal Elders and culturally competent spiritual leaders and professionals are used to address:

  • Generational Trauma
  • Inner Child Re-connection
  • Loss of Identity
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Isolation
  • Increased Suicide Rates
  • Increase in Domestic Violence
  • Addictions/Alcoholism
  • Adoption Trauma

LGBT-Q/Two Spirit
Many of our LGBT-Q/Two Spirit people are searching for validation. However, they often are abandoned by family and who they thought were friends. Many times they are at a loss for words to describe the emptiness they feel. Their spiritual, psychological, and legal needs go unmet. Many spend years in silent suppressed grief and pain. Many are left to live and resolve this pain of separation without culturally specific spiritual assistance or therapeutic intervention that addresses the loss and pain caused by separation from their family and society at large. This kind of grief, pain, and loss does not typically respond to mainstream counseling. The pain of separation from society, family, and identity is ongoing unless resolved at the core.

Many LGBT-Q/Two Spirit people and their families have used the mainstream services to meet their immediate psychological needs. Many times these mainstream services fall short of addressing the profound wounds caused by shunning of family. It is so important that connection with culturally competent professionals are used to address the following:

  • Loss of legal status
  • Anxiety
  • Depression/ Isolation
  • Loss of personal power
  • Guilt
  • Loss of Identity
  • Increased Suicide Rates
  • Bullying in schools and at the workplace
  • Nightmares
  • Transgender Counseling
