Mission Statement

Through the preservation and interpretation of its 18th and 19th century buildings and collections, the unique history of Rockingham--General George Washington's final wartime headquarters and the location where he composed his Farewell Orders to the Armies of the United States--will introduce the public to the story of the emergence of modern democracy in America by highlighting the 1783-1802 period and incorporating the social, economic and political developments of the New Republic.

Description

Rockingham is a living history museum housed in a mansion (built in 1710) that was used by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The site houses a collection of artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries.
