The Boys Hope Girls Hope Family Mentoring Program helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The Family Mentoring Program is designed for the scholars of Boys Hope Girls Hope of New Orleans to learn the skill sets needed to navigate life from a successful and value-centered family. The mentoring program uses couples as volunteers to commit to supporting, guiding, and being role-models to a young person through college graduation. By developing a long-term relationship with a stable family who care about the youth, the mentors can help the youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals. Boys Hope Girls Hope is a non-profit organization that serves to help academically capable and motivated children-in-need to meet their full potential and become men and women for others by providing value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities, and education through college. We are currently seeking volunteers interested in becoming Meal Parents. This role consists of volunteering one night a month to provide a meal for one of our homes. This can consist of an individual, family, restaurant, or a small group bringing dinner for the staff and scholars; we welcome volunteers to stay and share in the meal as a guest of the home. Volunteers can also drop the meal off at the homes if they are unable to stay. This position can be a once a month position or is available to rotate months. Our houses typically have 12 people living in them, so the meal should provide for at least that many. We are also looking for volunteers who, once a month or rotating months, would be able to provide breakfast or lunch groceries for one of the homes. For more information, please contact our Executive Director, Chuck Roth at croth@bhgh.org
