Mission Statement

The mission of New Connections is to empower individuals and their families to lead lives which are healthy, productive, satisfying and free of substance abuse. New Connections has provided community-based behavioral healthcare services in Contra Costa County since 1972. The agency maintains counseling centers in Concord, El Cerrito, Pittsburg and Richmond. We also place clinicians in several community locations throughout Contra Costa, including Probation and CalWORKS offices, and over 30 elementary, middle and high schools. New Connections programs include: w Mental Health & Substance abuse (Dual Diagnosis) treatment services for adolescents and adults. w HIV/AIDS case management and substance abuse coordination. w Diversion counseling for youth and adults in the criminal justice system. w Counselors placed at schools, mental health facilities, and social services sites. w Substance abuse prevention programs in schools and the community. New Connections has received local and national recognition for our innovative, outcome-oriented services. Some of the agencyà  à ¢à  à  à  à  s honors include: w Honor Roll Award from the Contra Costa Children and Families Policy Forum w Distinguished Program Award from the Contra Costa Juvenile Justice Commission w Agency That Makes a Difference Award from the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors w Program of Excellence Award from the Association of California School Administrators w Superior Achievement in Prevention Award from the California Department of Alcohol & Drug Programs. New Connections was also named as one of the top 20 programs in the United States by the National Association of State Alcohol & Drug Abuse Directors and the National Prevention Network. New Connections applies research-based models of services à  à ¢à  à  à  à  delivered by community-based clinicians and other staff members à  à ¢à  à  à  à  with an emphasis on client outcomes. In all programs, the agency serves over 12,000 youth, adults and families each year.

Description

New Connections is the largest provider of HIV/AIDS services in Contra Costa County. New Connections also has intensive dual diagnosis services for adults and youth in all three regions of the county. New Connections also provides case management and psychosocial support services to the CAL & SAM Works programs. Lastly, New Connections provides prevention, early intervention and school base counseling services in 15 middle and high schools in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.
