To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $600 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.
I volunteered at a water station operated by this organization during a marathon. It was a very worthwhile experience--and fun! There was plenty of work to keep me busy, but enough volunteers on hand to keep it from getting overwhelming. The people in charge of the event were friendly and genuinely appreciative. I will keep an eye out for future volunteer opportunities with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will encourage my friends and family to join in with me the next time.
I endorse any organization which works to raise money & awareness to the horrible blood cancer diseases. This is especially true since Leukemia claimed the life of my Brother's wife (and nephew/neice's mother) in only 49 nine days! Leukemia & Lymphoma and the other diseases they fight are devastating and horrifying and need to be abolished!
