Mission Statement

The Senior Peer Counseling program is dedicated to the principle that men and women are capable of learning and growth throughout their lifespan. Our agency's mission is to promote independence, preserve dignity and enhance the quality of life through the provision of services for older adults and people with disabilities.

Description

The Senior Peer Counseling program offers emotional support to Snohomish County seniors. Volunteers age 55 and older are trained by mental health and aging professionals to provide one-on-one counseling to adults age 60 and older who may be isolated or struggling with life changes, losses or other emotional issues. Volunteers learn about the aging process; counseling and communication skills; stress management and health promotion; and community resources especially for older adults. Our volunteers enjoy the opportunity to learn new skills, make meaningful connections with other volunteers, and contribute positively to the community and to the lives of others. Program services are free of charge to all participants.
