Sewa Mental Health Program Position Description Community Liaison - TQT/1200 hours We are looking for a Community Liaison to join our Sewa International AmeriCorps Bay Area Mental Health program. Community Liaison will be responsible for connecting with schools, community leaders, emergency shelters etc and county authorities like first responders, caretakers, cops and veterans. They will serve 6 days a week, 5 hours each day. They will collect the data from the county and assess the needs of the Mental health program and conduct few mental health first aid awareness sessions to the community and clients. They will report to the Program manager. The position reports to Program Manager Our AmeriCorps Members serve a minimum of 1200 hours for a 12-month term of service from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024 Functions Collaborate with schools, community leaders, emergency shelters etc and county authorities like first responders, caretakers, cops and veterans. Reach out to schools ( Principal, Vice principal, Counselor) ask them the need of the program Coordinate workshops, activities on weekdays and on weekends Contact local schools, community leaders,first responders, etc and follow up with them Conduct few Mental Health First Aid sessions to the clients Maintain accurate records and electronic files of outreach efforts. Maintain timesheets and hours spent on, site visits, meeting and training etc. and get them approved by program manager Marginal Functions Support events such as the mental health awareness session series, Lead SELF activities ( Hiking, Biking, Yoga etc), and community service projects Members may be required to perform other position-related instructions within the scope of their normal service activities, as requested by their Supervisor, in alignment with the terms and conditions of the AmeriCorps grant AND that are not unallowable or prohibited activities, and subject to reasonable accommodation. Education and Experience Required At least high school diploma or equivalent required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required Computer skills, including Word, and Excel, G Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and general office skills. Problem-solving and excellent customer relations ability. Strong public relations skills. Knowledge of marketing and promotion. Ability to work as a member of a team and collaborate with others Must have the skills to communicate effectively and follow through with priorities. Attend and participate in weekly planning meetings and weekly supervision Must have access to internet (cellphone, tablet, laptop) Maintain positive work relationships in a respectful and collaborative manner Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with all referral sources, including but not limited to the following: schools, local authorities, first aid responders etc. Ability to serve on evenings and on Saturdays Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other applications Eligibility Must be a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Minimum: 18 Maximum: None Complete and pass a National Service Criminal History Check Travel Requirement Must have a reliable transportation and able to travel to the location on their own Valid and current California Driver’s license and c urrent insurance along with a clean DMV record required Benefits Living Allowance: $1850/month Upon successful completion of 1200 hours, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education of Award $4826 that they can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans.
