Mission Statement

Description

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint provides after school and summer programs to youth ages 7 to 17 living in Flint and Genesee County, Michigan. Programs are offered as part of five core focus areas that include Education & Career Development; Character & Leadership Development; The Arts; Sports, Fitness & Recreation and Health & Life Skills. The BGCGF is comprised of two units, the Averill Unit and the Haskell Center (opened Oct. 2010), which allows us to serve approximately 4,000 youth in the community per year, with about 1,800 of those being registered Club members.

The programs and services provided form a safety net and address major gaps in community services to young people. These gaps include access to: youth exclusive facilities, consistent year-round services (after school and summer), extended hours (8pm after school, full-day 10 week summer program), flexibility of usage (members are welcome anytime without advance notice), value ($10 per year membership & limited fieldtrip fees), and program services addressing youth needs and interests.
