Mission Statement

The mission of Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is to promote the healthy development of individuals, families and communities. There are three core components to our mission: 1. Provide direct services to promote healthy development 2. Encourage volunteers to provide service to their community 3. Build and strengthen all of the communities we serve, so that community members and institutions can affect change.

Description

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) was established in 2004 as the result of the joint effort between the West Contra Costa Unified School District and Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), a non-profit agency whose mission is to support the healthy development of individuals and families in the community. The goal of the YEP is to conduct a school-based mentoring program for students with greatest need, due to low academic performance, low attendance and/or high discipline problems. The program is designed to match these students with positive, constructive and consistent role models.
