Mission Statement
Ten Thousand Villages' mission is to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships.
Our vision is that one day all artisans in the developing countries will earn a fair wage, be treated with dignity and respect and be able to live a life of quality.
Description
Ten Thousand Villages works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed. This income helps pay for food, education, health care and housing. Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit program created by the Mennonite Central Committee, a relief service and peace agency. The Raleigh store is one in a network of 145 Ten Thousand Villages fair trade retail stores in North America.
