Mission Statement

The mission of the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) is to find better treatments and ultimately prevent and cure systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus), a debilitating autoimmune disease, through medical research.

The Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) is a national voluntary health organization based in New York City that was founded in 1999 and is chaired by Robert Wood Johnson IV, a member of the Johnson & Johnson family.

The ALR employs a "venture capitalist" approach to discovering and developing new medical treatments for lupus; funding high-risk, high-reward projects for rapid results.

Since its founding, ALR has given more money to lupus research than any non-governmental agency in the world. To date the ALR has committed nearly than $90 million to lupus research.

100% of all donations (including every dollar raised through ALR's signature Walk with Us to Cure Lupus fundraising program) go directly to support lupus research programs, because the ALR Board of Directors funds all administrative and fundraising costs.

This is a great organization with an even better purpose. Everyone involved was friendly. I was honored to help with such a great cause.
