Mission Statement

Partners in School Innovation is a service organization that enables public schools in high-poverty Bay Area communities -- serving primarily students of color and English language learners -- to achieve educational equity through school-based reform.

Description

Partners in School Innovation assigns a team of two to four AmeriCorps members, we call them 'Partners', and a School Partnership Director to each school. The AmeriCorps members work at the school site four days a week collaborating with teachers, resource staff and other members of the school community on projects that address the school's priorities for reform. Partners are not teachers, nor are they outside contractors with a particular program to add or "plug in" to our schools. Rather, they are a resource for teachers who believe that training or critical feedback from experts is only a first step in professional learning, and who want to improve their performance through close observation, reflection, and critical dialogue.
